Why Storytimes Matter

Did you know that reading is the foundation for academic learning?
It's never too early for parents to open the door to reading success
by attending library storytimes. Library programs show parents
how to nurture a love of reading, develop essential literacy skills,
and support the overall healthy development of their children.

Children who participate regularly in these activities develop the
pre-reading skills that help them learn to read. And the library
has many kits and packages supporting literacy skills that parents
can take home (literacy materials donated by the McDermott
foundation). Stop by the library to learn more!

Dr. Seuss -- 105 years of Seuss!

Celebrate the 105th birthday of Dr. Seuss
by reading aloud one of his creations to some
one you love! My personal favorite (since the
age of 7) is How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
What's your favorite? Stop by Tolland Library
to pick up a Dr. Seuss book today!

Mrs. B will also be featuring Dr. Seuss in the
Toddler, Preschool, and Evening Storytimes
this week.
