Summer Story and Craft Programs at Tolland Library

Summer Drop-in Storytime, for ages 2 to 5 with parent or caregiver,
on Wednesdays at 10:15 - 11 AM, starting June 23rd through August 4th.
No sign-up required; drop in as your vacation schedule permits.

Crafty Wednesdays: International Tales with a Craft,
on Wednesdays, at 1 - 2 PM, starting June 30th - August 4th.
Kids ages 6 to 10 are invited to listen to tales from different countries
and create a related craft. This is a 6-week series; a different country will
be featured each week. Sign-up is requested.

Thinkin' Thursdays: Stories With a Twist,
on Thursdays at 1:30 - 2:15 PM.
Introducing Science & Math with children's lit: each week we'll do a story
incorporating math or science, accompanied by an activity to get all
participants thinking! For kids in grades K - 3. Sign up requested.

Summer PJ Storytime,
Thursdays at 6:30 - 7 PM, for families with children ages 2 to 7.
No sign-up required. Kids are welcome to come in PJs and to bring
a favorite stuffed animal.

Saturday Storytimes:
Red, White, and Blue Storytime for ages 2 and up,
on Saturday, July 3rd at 10:30 AM. A patriotic storytime
for the 4th of July weekend; no sign-up required.

Tolland Library storytimes are free and open to out-of-town residents.

MAKE A SPLASH! MAKE WAVES AT YOUR LIBRARY: SUMMER READING

Kids entering grades K - 9 are all invited to sign up for the library's summer reading program, starting Saturday, June 19th. You can read any books you like (no reading requirements!), and all the books you list also count for the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge. So come on in, get started, and start earning some cool prizes at the library this summer!

What you can earn:
for 3 books, a voucher for a free all-day ride pass to
Quassy Amusement Park
for 5 books, a voucher for a free Rock Cats game
for 8 books, an offer for a free book from Barnes & Noble
for 10 books, a free kids meal at Appleby (through age 10);
a free book offer from Borders (through age 12);
a voucher for a game ticket to see the Connecticut Sun (women's
basketball) at the Mohegan Sun Casino; and an offer from TD bank
for $10 in a new or existing account.
For 15 books, a chance to win a free family pass to a kids event
at the Jorgensen Auditorium

The summer reading program is free and open to Tolland residents!
It runs all summer long, from June 19th to Sept. 4th.
Come in any time to sign up.

Kids are also welcome to drop in on Tuesday mornings for the
Summer Reading Club, starting June 29th at 10:15 AM;
readers are invited to talk about what they are reading, and
Mrs. B will also share part of a current favorite, followed by suggestions
on what kids might enjoy reading next. For grades K - 5 (no sign-up required).

Make a Hawaiian Splash! Summer Reading Kick-Off

Kids in grades K and up are invited to sign up for
"Make a Hawaiian Splash," on Monday, June 21st, at 2 PM
at the Tolland Public Library, to kick-off the Summer Reading Program.

The Make a Hawaiian Splash Luau Show will feature a presentation about Hawaiian culture, history & Polynesian dance, as we make a splash throughout the islands with stories, songs, and dances about fishing, surfing, picking seashells, and even taking a bath! The audience will have a chance to participate in sing-along, percussive music play and dance lessons.

Rock Cats Mascot at the Tolland Library

The Rock Cats mascot Rocky will visit the library on:
Tuesday, June 22nd, at 10:30 AM; come & listen to a baseball story
and get Rocky's autograph! For ages 4-5 and up.

LIBRARY TRUCK DAY

Tolland Library's Annual Truck Day will be held on Friday, June 25th,
from 1 to 3 PM in the parking lot next to the library. Truck lovers of
all ages are invited to come and see and touch a truck up close!

And don't forget to come into the library to bring home some truck
books -- and, for kids going into grades K to 9, to sign up for summer reading!
